This incredible video tells the story of the Chumash Tribes efforts to reclaim a maritime heritage. As some of the first inhabitants of North America, their legends tell of traversing the “Rainbow Bridge,” assisted by dolphins, to cross the ocean from their spiritual home on Santa Cruz Island to the mainland on the southern California coast.
Here, tribal members have constructed a 24-foot redwood plank canoe, to make a “journey of prophecy” from the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard back to their spiritual home in the Channel Islands.
