The U.S. Navy wants to test and use a high level underwater sounds off Hawaii, the California and Atlantic Coasts, and the Gulf of Mexico. According to their own estimate in a recent “Draft Environmental Impact Statement” - doing so will kill 1,800 whales and dolphins, and deafen 15,800 others.
These animals rely on hearing to find food, to navigate, to evade predators, to mate, and to communicate. Deafening them will also kill them.
Though we have officially ended whaling – for whale oil, flesh and bone, the slaughter continues.
